Yes. GPS, phone location history, and rideshare records can all help a DUI defense by nailing down the timeline. In many cases the exact timing of when you drove, when you stopped, and when you drank is the whole ballgame, and digital records do not forget the way people do.

Here is how it can matter. A rideshare receipt or trip history can show you were not driving during part of the night the officer assumes you were. Phone location data can confirm where your car actually was and for how long, which is useful if you are accused of driving while you were really parked. Timestamps can also support a rising blood alcohol defense by showing how much time passed between your last drink and the test.

Restaurant and bar receipts, credit card records, and text messages fill in the same picture. They can establish what you ate, when your last drink was, and who you were with, all of which feed into how alcohol was moving through your system.

The catch is that this data does not last forever. Rideshare apps and phone backups get overwritten, and some records take a formal request to obtain. The sooner you save screenshots and receipts, the better.
